Lion's Head Provincial Nature Reserve Hiking
If you'd like to hike a loop, follow the forested trail into the trail, (check out the chimney rock on the way) then you'll emerge onto the stunning 200-foot cliffs. Hang a right. The trail leads around two sides and part of the third side of the peninsula before heading into the forested inland trail again. It is a good hike. Make sure you wear proper foot wear and do not leave too late in the day.
The cliffs of the Niagara Escarpment, including those at Lion's Head, support one of the most ancient and least disturbed forest ecosystems in North America. Of particular interest are the ancient white cedars found along the cliff's edge. The park is also known for the presence of both nationally and provincially rare plant species.
Smokey Head White Bluffs Hiking
Hiking in the Smokey Head White Bluffs reserve offer some spectaular vistas. It is a rough hike, but worth the work! The rugged shoreline rises some 50 metres above the crashing waves, exposing various gradations of the Silurian-age dolomite, roughly 400 to 425 million years old. Sea caves and other unusual rock formations have been carved by ancient waters. Karrens, which are small furrows in the limestone bedrock, demonstrate the erosive properties of rainwater. Dry upland forests predominate.

Lion's Head Beach is located on the waterfront of the village. It is a natural sand beach - over looking the marina. It is on a sheltered harbour. The beach has a playground, campground, marina and the Bruce Trail runs close by. There are public washrooms on site.
Georgian Bay
The Bay is right out in front of Lion's head. A hike around the bay will take you to some choice swimming spots on flat rocks.
The deep waters of Isthmus Bay provide fishermen (and fisherwomen) will ideal deep water fishing. You will need a sturdy boat and a down rigger to fish for the 20 plus pound salmon that live in the waters here.
Fish with your lines down between 60' & 90' -as close to the shore as possible, and you may catch a monster salmon or lake trout. In some spots - you are only a couple of hundred yards from the limestone cliffs of the escarpment - which loom above you while you fish the day away! Evening and early morning are the best times for salmon and trout fishing.
