Enjoy the peaceful seclusion of Immokalea  [aboriginal for my home]. A fully modernized, 2 bdrm , 80 year  old  stone cottage  - it lies virtually astride the  Bruce Trail.

Isolated amidst 2 ½ acres of lush forest Immokalea affords unparalleled privacy. With a 300 yd. driveway you seldom hear a car and never see a neighbor.
Sunrise is spectacular  especially  during the  equinoxes . Enjoy morning coffee on  our stone patio, or you can stroll about the grounds on our trail loop.

Your day’s activities can be numerous and varied. Most  obviously is the world famous Bruce Trail. The Barrow Bay Loop  begins at the front driveway. The Rush Cove Loop,  the  Gun Point /Lion’s Head Loop and the Jack Poste Loop all lie within a day’s hike.

Suntrail Outfitters in nearby Hepworth rents kayaks and offers guided trips throughout the area. Sandy Beach provides excellent , warm, safe waters. Fathom Five National Marine Park with its many well preserved wrecks is a ½ hour drive north.

A mountain bike path is 15 Km. south.

5 Km. north is Lion’s Head. A major “metropolis” for the area it  has a grocery store, 2 churches, a library, variety store [d.v.d.’s], a liquor/beer store, a medical centre, a drug/book store, and a hardware store. It  also features some of the best salmon and trout fishing in Ontario along with competent outfitters and charters

Bird watching  is rewarding especially during spring and fall migrations. With a wide variety  habitat in the immediate area I have personally counted about 60 species and I am no ornithologist.

Naturalists and garden lovers will be delighted. On site are  small caves filled  with exotic ferns . Various fungi grows nearby. Greig’s Caves [7 Km. south] has cedar trees 2 feet high that are as old as California Redwoods [2000 years]. Rare, in some cases unique orchids are not far from here.

You can tour formal gardens open to the public. For instance Larkwhistle  Gardens operated by Patrick Lima [author of  Perennial Garden from Harrowsmith]  is located about 30 minutes north. On the way  stop at The Candle Shop where you watch as skilled artisans create beautiful works of art.

Or just relax amidst the English style gardens enveloping the house and simply enjoy the peace and tranquility.

Seasoned firewood and a charming outdoor fireplace makes for comfortable evenings. The stars can be breathtaking; the silence deafening.

Immokalea features all modern conveniences including  a new kitchen with new stove and microwave. The bedrooms have been redone and the mattresses replaced. There is new wiring and a 3 piece bath. The water is good. It has electric heat as well as the fireplace. There is  a new satellite T.V. with d.v.d. It sleeps 4 comfortably, 5 in a pinch. Well behaved dogs are welcome.
