With water virtually surrounding the Bruce Peninsula on 3 sides, quiet coves, and conveniently located on the Great Lakes system, boaters couldn't ask for a better place. There are several marinas on the Peninsula to dock your boat for an evening or 2, such as in Tobermory, or Lion's Head. There are also many wonderful inlets and sheltered coves such as Hope Bay and Cabot Head to moor your boat.

Whether you are experienced, or looking to learn a - Kayaking and canoeing is a great way to spend time on the Bruce Peninsula. Spend a couple of hours or a couple of days discovering the hidden places of the Bruce Peninsula by kayak or canoe. There are several outfitters available to provide you with top quality canoe or kayak rentals - and there is dozens of areas to take your boat to explore the wonders of the Bruce Peninsula.

Sea Kayaking in the Bruce Peninsula
National Park The park is great for sea kayakers. The waters of Georgian Bay surrounding the park have endless possibilities. The waters off the park have endless possibilities for paddlers. For beginners there are a some beaches and areas with gentle inclines in protected harbours. Other areas are more rough & rugged and should only be approached by experienced paddlers. Some of the local outfitters can provide guided paddles of these areas.
There are also some sunken ships that can be seen while paddling the areas around the Bruce Peninsula. The limestone cliffs of the Niagara Escarpment provide a wonder backdrop for your experience.
Sea Kayaking the Fishing Islands On Lake Huron... close to Sauble Beach you will find the Fishing Islands. Just off the shores of Oliphant - this lovely area provides a haven for both fish and native wildlife. Birds nest here in spring and summer - it is not unheard of to view a bald eagle soar overhead! Rent a kayak from a local outfitter and spend the day paddling around this fantastic area.
Canoeing the Rankin River - This canoe route travels from Sky Lake to Sauble Falls, a distance of 18 km with a travel time of 5-7 hours.
There are a few Outfitters located in and around the Bruce Peninsula who can set you up with a canoe or kayak rental - and directions on where to put your boat in the water. These outfitters also provide guided boating trips which includes boats, instruction, lunch and all safety equipment!

Flowerpot Island - Take one of the tour boats out to Flower Pot Island, where you can take a hike around the island, experience 1000 year old trees, see some interesting caves and see inland flowerpots. The tour takes you over some shipwrecks that lie at the bottom of Georgian Bay. The boats leave regularly from the docks in Tobermory. There are also tours of the Fathom Five National Marine Park, or take a fast inflatable ride around Cove Island and it's Imperial Lighthouse.

The ChiCheemaun provides travelers with passage across to Manitoulin Island. Manitoulin Island is located 90 kilometers beyond Tobermory. Manitoulin Island is the world¹largest freshwater island with 100 inland lakes, the home of the Ojibwa and the centre for First Nations culture, history and annual celebrations.

The Fishing Islands off the shores of Oliphant - on Lake Huron has some tours that take you around the islands. It is a popular summer playground characterized by sand beaches and warm, clear waters.
